What is AI field detection?
AI field detection automatically finds where signatures, dates, initials, and text belong in a PDF and places the right fields there for you. Instead of dragging each box onto the document by hand, you upload the file, click AI Detect, and SigPen lays out the fields, which you can review and adjust before sending.
How does SigPen place fields with AI?
When you click AI Detect, SigPen sends the document (both the page itself and its extracted text layout) to its AI, which identifies signature lines, date lines, initial blocks, and labeled inputs and returns their positions on each page. SigPen then snaps those into proper fields assigned to the correct signer.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
It works best on digital PDFs that have selectable text, since that text layout is what lets the AI place fields precisely. For scanned or image-only PDFs, SigPen falls back to visual analysis, so the results are a useful starting point you may need to adjust before sending.
Can I review or change the fields the AI places?
Always. The AI gives you a starting layout, not a final answer. Every detected field is editable. Move it, resize it, delete it, reassign it to another signer, or add a field the AI missed before you send the document.
